Merano

One of the symbols of wellness in South Tyrol is the city of Merano (German: Meran, Ladin Maran), famous for its mild climate and its long wellness tradition. One example are the famous thermal baths which came into fashion thanks to Empress Sissi at the end of the XIX century, where the whole European aristocracy gathered. Another symbol of wellness in South Tyrol is the grapes cure, studied by a Jewish Meranese physician; this diet is still famous thanks to its purifying virtues. After a long period of oblivion, Merano came back into fashion and its thermal baths, reopened in 2005, are now one of the most important wellness in South Tyrol symbols. They attract a lot of public, thanks to the spa treatments efficacy. Some examples are: balneotherapy, mood therapy and it´s possible to experiment the Alpine wellness treatments.
